Various freelance projects, including Movable Type maintenance, JavaScript programming, and the creation of iPhone/iPad applications using PhoneGap and jQuery.

2006-2010 — Software Engineer

Worked in a variety of languages on both backend and frontend development based around the Movable Type blog CMS software. Projects included:

  • Perl script to parse comma-delimited TV schedule data into a usable format, HTML and jQuery to output that schedule data into a dynamic HTML view
  • JavaScript/jQuery work to support a conversational ad product
  • Extensive work in Perl on a CMS upgrade to a set of large newspaper websites, including work to allow the CMS to scale appropriately and low-level tracing to discover and minimize excessive database calls

AOL Web Properties

2002-2006 — Interactive Media Developer

Collaborated with large and diverse teams on a number of projects, including:

  • Work in CSS, JSP, and HTML to create an XHTML-compliant redesign of the Netscape.com homepage that conforms to AOL's Disability Accessibility Policy
  • Work in Flash, JavaScript, CSS, JSP, and HTML to create an application-like portal experience ("Netcenter") for Netscape.com
  • Work in Flash, JSP, and XSLT to develop a standalone desktop application ("Netscape Desktop Navigator") that delivers feeds of news, sports, stock market, and weather data, as well as providing interfaces for search, maps, and movie showtimes

Other responsibilities have included day-to-day maintenance of dynamic web content pages, conversion of pages from ASP/IIS to JSP/Apache and TCL/AOLServer, Flash game programming, development of tools to ease daily publishing tasks, and documentation of technical requirements for a number of different projects.

2001-2002 — Intern

Responsible for top-of-service publishing for CompuServe, development of dynamic content pages, coordinating redesigns and rearchitecture of channels, and conversion of pages from ASP/IIS to JSP/Apache.
